GAMES PROMOTION OFFICER (GPO), DOUGLAS

ROLE DESCRIPTION:

Douglas is a thriving Gaelic Football, Hurling, Ladies Football and
Camogie club catering for boys and girls from all ages up to adult
level. The club is based in Douglas Village, Cork. The club are
looking to appoint a Games Promotion Officer on a part-time basis.

The post holder will be responsible for leading the Under 5 to **Apply
on the website** games development and coaching work within our feeder
schools at primary level. The link between our club & schools is key
to the future success of the club. The GPO will work with the local
schools throughout the calendar year providing a coaching and coaching
support role to maximise participation in Gaelic games. The work
program for the post will be agreed on an ongoing basis with the Club
Coaching Committee.

This is a Part Time Paid role for * hours per
week that can be broken up into 2,3- or 4-days midweek

The post holder will also run the club fun and GAA skills camps during
the summer and midterm breaks.

Full training will be provided to suitable candidates

REPORTS TO: Executive Chairperson

RESPONSIBILITIES SCHOOLS COACHING ACTIVITIES

* Run the Club Primary Schools Program in 4 of our local primary
schools.
* Set up a meaningful school’s engagement calendar in conjunction
existing Games Promotion Officers.
* Organize Blitzes between Primary level feeder schools for 1st &
2nd and 5th & 6th class kids.
* Organise fun and skills camps during summer holidays, Easter and
Halloween breaks
* Experienced candidates may also be asked to provide
coaching/coaching support in secondary schools .

SKILLS

* Ability to work well with children of primary school age
* Good administration, organizational and IT skills.
* Excellent timekeeper and of a reliable nature.
* Knowledge of Gaelic Games (Hurling, Camogie, Football and Ladies
Football)

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WITH:

* A degree (or equivalent third level qualification) in physical
education / sports development or any other relevant discipline to the
post.
* Level 1 or 2 GAA Coaching Award.
* Previous coaching experience at primary schools / secondary school
level in the past 3 years.

MANDATORY:

* Garda vetting and GAA Child Safeguarding 1 are required.
* Own car with a driving license
